FinXL is seeking, for its federal government client, to engage an Advanced Practitioner to assist the project and enhance an already established team of five SMEs. The successful candidate is required to identify, define, design, validate, and support the implementation of digital integration requirements for programs and projects. Additionally, they will assess and endorse pre-Gate 0 to Gate 2 integration approaches and address post-Gate 2 digital integration risks and issues.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Develop a deep and fundamental understanding of the Section and its design considerations;
  • Develop a detailed understanding of the integration of sub-components into capabilities;
  • Lead development of the Section design within their technical specialisation;
  • Record and share information regarding project engagements to enable a collaborative approach across the SMEs and the integration/technical SME staff to achieve digital integration requirements;
  • Develop an understanding of concepts or a design within the Section and provide detailed advice on the integration requirements from a digital integration perspective (as opposed to physical integration);
  • SME activities are coordinated through the Product Line Lead, with SMEs expected to report to the project executive team when required;
  • Work within a team of SMEs to ensure that programs are consistent in approach regarding digital integration;
  • On receipt of portfolio/program/project familiarisation from the Coordinator, the SMEs will provide enduring liaison with programs, advising Capability Manager (CM) representatives and programs regarding digital integration needs and prioritisation;
  • Advise project executive body on proposed integration approaches and related recommendations for Land and other programs;
  • Support the development of design products to inform project staff and external stakeholders of digital integration requirements through the provision of current and future baselines.

The successful applicant would be required to have:

  • Demonstrated experience and / or relevant tertiary qualifications Eg: Science, Engineering or IT qualifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in defence environment
  • Demonstrated qualifications or specialist experience with one or more of the following skillsets:
    • Networking - Design, Implementation, and assessment of networked systems within either tactical or enterprise environments.
    • Experience with implementation, configuration, assessment, and extensions of military system and software.
    • Detailed knowledge and implementation details of Tactical Data Links formats and protocols and ability to analyse and assess vendor implementations of these formats.
    • Enterprise Architecture - Design, implementation, and assessment of accredited systems.
    • Experience with distributed system design, implementation, and assessment.
    • Experience with the design, implementation, and analysis of tactical networking bearers, radio RF design, waveform design, and integration.
    • Experience with the design, implementation, and analysis of strategic networking bearers, associated modems and equipment, waveform design, and integration.
    • Detailed experience with the design, programming knowledge, analysis, and assessment of large software systems.
    • Detailed experience with the design, implementation, and assessment of autonomous platforms and the software/hardware required for integration.
    • Detailed knowledge and experience with the GxA standards: Generic Vehicle Architecture (GVA), and Vehicle Standard Operating Environment (VSOE).
    • Detailed knowledge, experience, and implementation detail of Fires based systems and software and their networking integration.
  • Collaboration and stakeholder experience within and across portfolio/program/project areas (e.g. Workshop management, planning forums etc).
  • Program / project management services delivery.
  • An awareness of technical systems design, test/evaluation, verification/validation, configuration and risk mitigation methodologies.
