Job Description

FinXL IT Professional Services is a leading IT services organisation providing a broad range of services to assist large Australian enterprises and Government departments to deliver IT projects.

At present, we are looking for a Network Design Engineer to join our market leading client.

Key Responsibilities:

Network Design:

  • Cisco ASR9000 series IOS-XR design, test and configuration experience
  • Nokia 7450/7750 configuration experience
  • Reviews network solution architectures for effectiveness and efficiency
  • Performs high level design and detailed (configuration level) design for network applications and network elements including automated scripting where relevant
  • Creates documented guides to support network deployment and operational activities
  • Reviews test plans for completeness and coverage
  • Provides deployment support to Network Operations
  • Liaises with 3rd party vendors around defect fixes
  • Participates in peer reviews to ensure network design is compliant to relevant standards
  • Participates in network design related Technical COPs and other group activities to improve related standards and practises

Network Testing:

  • Reviews requirements and acceptance criteria for testability
  • Executes functional and non-functional test cases and records outcomes
  • Designs test cases and test scripts aligned to requirements
  • Selects from manual and automated tests and supports test automation
  • Supports user acceptance testing and deployment testing
  • Reports on test activities including defect capture and tracking
  • Defines and configures network environments required to support test activities
  • Contributes to agile team delivery via participation in PI and sprint activities including showcases and supporting other team members where required
  • Supports agile team backlog grooming including epic to story decomposition, story estimation and sprint planning
  • Participates in test related Technical COPs and other group activities to improve related standards and practises

Skills & experience required:

  • Bachelors' Degree in a network related field (e.g. Electrical Engineering) or equivalent experience
  • Experience performing network design and configuration related activities in a carrier environment
  • Experience performing test related activities for network technologies in a carrier environment
  • Experience working within Agile engineering teams following scrum and/or kanban practises.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills when engaging on issues with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Ability to write and present design documents for technical and non-technical audiences
